Episode 86

Ep 86 - Filioque, Christian Nationalism, and the Apocrypha (w/ Fr Jonathan Mettasophia & Chris Moreland PhD)

This week Father Jonathan Mettasophia and Professor Chris Moreland join us again! Fr Jonathan, representing the Orthodox Church; Professor Chris, representing the Catholic Church; and, our co-hosts, Joshua and TJ represent the Protestant Church. We discuss the split in the Church during the "Great Schism" over the Filioque clause, the problems the Church faces with Christian nationalism, the differences in liturgy, and the differences in the three Churches' cannon of the Old Testament of the Bible (particularly concerning what the Protestant refers to as the Apocrypha).

Joshua Noel

I am from Knoxville, TN. Grew up in Florida and Charlotte, NC. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies, am preparing to attend Law School at the University of South Carolina, have co-hosted "The Whole Church Podcast" with my best friend TJ Blackwell for four years, and I have been involved in local ministries for 15 years now. I'm pretty huge into hermeneutics, U.S. Constitutional Law, and Biblical theology, and my favorite TV show is "Doctor Who".

Offering Plate

We may not be huge fans of the pressure that goes along with a literal offering plate, but we do hope you will consider giving to our ministry so we can afford to continue our work to educate and unite the Church!
